Digital Marketing Award: Katie Hunter
The Digital Marketing award from Evergreen Beauty College recognizes students of ours that we think represent themselves and their work with style and class on social media.
While all of our students are top-notch (we think, anyway) this month, we want to recognize a student who really captured our attention online: Katie Hunter!
Congrats, Katie! You have won our Digital Marketing Award this month!
About Katie
Katie’s career did not start in the beauty industry, but it was always a passion of hers. One day, she decided it was time to take a hold of her future and become a beauty student.
“Before enrolling into the program, I was working as an Administrative Assistant at a chiropractic office. I chose to go to cosmetology school because I have always liked doing hair and I knew that going into the industry I can get the flexible hours that I need to also be a full time mom.”
Katie was right: cosmetology careers often have more flexible schedules than 9-5 jobs do.
She was asked to share her favorite part of cosmetology, to which she said:
“Cutting and coloring is definitely my forte’. Being able to use my artistic ability to change someone’s look is amazing. I love being able to work on all the transformations, as well as working on people that are looking for something new and they give me the reigns to do whatever comes to mind.”
The Evergreen Experience
“I chose to attend Evergreen because they had a perfect schedule for a working, single mother.”
Student feedback is a part of what helps Evergreen Beauty College grow and change for the better. We asked Katie to share her favorite part of the program and also to share skills she has learned with us that she has mastered.
“The most helpful is when we get to have full creative freedom to do whatever we want. Such as the last fashion show I have never done a model’s whole look before, hair, makeup and full costume and honestly I shocked myself with my work. It feels so great to know that I have found my niche.”
Katie has fine-tuned skills that she has learned during her time here and we are proud of her for her dedication to learning!
“I definitely go with the flow a lot of the time.. If I think about how the hair will lay I just go with what I feel.. I never over think what I am doing and I never stress if something doesn’t work. I remain confident in my skills and because of that I am progressively getting better day by day.”
The Next Step
Career goals are an important part of living the future you want and worked for.
Katie said her goals are, “When I get out of school I plan to continue to work for a Barber and Beauty shop in Kent and continue to build my client list. This place is a great area to grow in and expand my services.”
Perfecting your craft and building your clientele is a great way to become established in the industry. Katie’s goals will help make her successful in the future.
Before we say goodbye to Katie in January of 2017, here is what she has to say about her instructors:
“Our teachers are awesome.. each of them had made this experience amazing for me. They have all taught me so much and instilled so much in me in regards to this industry and how to become successful. They were the ones who kept me coming everyday. I am very proud to have such great teachers.”
