Cosmetology Student Success Story: Sabrina Mora

Almost everyone can say that at some point in their life, at least one of their friends either had the passion to do, or actively did hair in the bathroom, garage or kitchen at home. For Sabrina Mora, the Digital Marketing Award winner for the month of June at our Renton campus, her story goes along those same lines. I was so excited to learn all about Sabrina’s story of how she decided to enroll in beauty college, her experience here at Evergreen and what her plans are for the future.

About Sabrina

As mentioned above, Sabrina has a similar story as to how she decided on her career as a Cosmetologist. When asked why she chose Cosmetology, she said, “I have always wanted to do hair, ever since I was little. I used to cut my friend’s hair in middle school in the school bathroom. I used to cut my Barbies hair and have been coloring my own hair since 6th grade.” Before she enrolled, she was working at a day care and had many other jobs until she finally decided to start her career path.

The Evergreen Experience

Once Sabrina decided that it was time to start the journey down her career path, she came into our Renton campus for a tour, but what exactly was it that sold her on Evergreen? When asked, she said “I chose to attend Evergreen Beauty College after doing a lot of research on multiple schools. I toured the Renton campus and instantly wanted to attend there. I loved the school and how friendly and welcoming the educators and staff were. I am very happy with my decision in attending the school and would highly recommend it!” Wow, Sabrina! Thank you so much for those kind words!

During their time with us, our Future Professionals experience a multitude of different challenges, assignments and accomplishments. Each and every Future Professional has a different story and their own list of favorite things they have done while in school. For Sabrina, her biggest strengths are undo’s and color. She really enjoys doing them and she definitely puts a lot of effort into doing those services. Another aspect of the program that has been very beneficial to her has been the ability to work on clients. “It gives us a feel for how it’s going to be in a salon. Although our educators are there to help us, we still have the practice of having actual clients and having to do what we will be doing in a salon.”

All of our Future Professionals are amazing in their own way. Each and every one of them has something that sets them apart from their peers. When asked what that was for Sabrina, she said “There a few things that set me apart from other stylists. I genuinely care about my clients and want to make them feel beautiful and more confident in their hair, skin and nails. I also love building relationships with my clients and want them to always feel comfortable with me.” The relationship between stylist and client is a very strong thing that will take a stylist very far in their career.

The Next Step

Sabrina is wrapping up her time at Evergreen and is projected to graduate at the end of September this year. Once she is a graduate, we were very intrigued to see what her future plans are. “After I graduate, I hope to be working in a salon, hopefully my own some day. I want to specialize in hair extensions, color services (vivid colors and balayage) and do up do’s and styles for weddings, events and photoshoots. Some other services I want to offer are eyelash extensions, micro blading, nails, make up and kids hair services.” Sabrina loves taking care of her clients. “I will always do everything I can to make sure you leave happier and more confident with the look of whatever service I give you.” With that attitude, there is no doubt that she will shine like a star as a Cosmetologist.

Our future professionals always have great words of advice for incoming students. When asked what advice Sabrina would give, she said “Stay focused and really take advantage of your time in school by learning as much as you can and taking all the opportunities you can. You will learn so much and the educators will always be there to help along the way with anything you need. I would also say to make sure you are always taking care of yourself so you can be the best person you can be and be there to learn and have fun while you are getting closer to starting your career.” That is wonderful advice! If that advice is followed, there is no doubt that they would be successful!
