How to Thread Eyebrows

Eyebrow ThreadingEyebrow threading is an old technique that some say originated in the Middle East while others say it started in India. It has now become very popular all over the world. The overall concept is very neat, but it takes some practice in order to master it.

How to Thread Eyebrows

First, you need a piece of sewing thread about a foot long. If you have larger hands or fingers, you might need a piece that is longer than that. Tie the thread into a knot and make a loop. Next, put two fingers from each hand inside the loop with the knot hidden on one set of fingers. Twist your fingers to allow the thread to become an X. Then twist the thread around four more times.

Put your index finger and thumb inside the loop and keep the other hand pinched together. This is how the thread grips the hair and pulls it out. Line the thread up over the unwanted hairs and repeat the motion.

Understanding Threading

When you think about eyebrow threading to get a certain shape to your eyebrow, you need to understand a few things. Threading for eyebrow shaping is a great way to get the look you want, but there are certain things you should and should not do.

First, it is a good idea to go to a trained professional to ensure that you get what you want for your brows. You will also need to communicate to that person exactly what you want. Bring in pictures of the look you desire.

Keep in mind that your brow area will be red for a while after the threading and that is a normal reaction. Don’t put anything on your brow area for several hours after you have the threading done. That means no makeup, moisturizer, cleanser or anything else.

It is a good idea to keep the look up often so that you do not have to deal with stubble and regrowth. As soon as the hair looks like it is starting to grow back, go in again. And do not shave it with a razor between appointments because that can make the hair thick and coarse.

Benefits of Eyebrow Threading

There are plenty of hair removal processes, so why should you choose threading? There are plenty of benefits to this process over the others.

First, eyebrow threading is more precise compared to waxing or even tweezing. It gives you a more defined shape because it can remove the hairs in a straight line every time.

Threading is also very gentle on the skin in comparison to tweezing and waxing. The skin is never stretched. Many people who have had threading done say that it is less painful.

When compared to other hair removal methods, threading is inexpensive. This is mainly because there are no chemicals involved in the process.
