Cosmetology Student Success Story: Autumn Stapleton
About Autumn Stapleton
Sometimes the burning passion to return to school never leaves your heart. Ms. Autumn experienced just that. “I actually went to school for Esthetics years ago, but found that the hair industry is where my passion lies. I have primarily worked with children, in a music school and as a nanny. The want to go back to school just wouldn’t leave my heart so I decided to pull the trigger, and everything has lined up perfectly since!” Shares Autumn. Knowing her passion and deciding to pursue it helped Autumn begin her journey to become a Cosmetologist. “I have been passionate about hair and the beauty industry my whole life. I really wanted to find a career where I could have creative expression as well as contribute to others feeling positively about themselves! People’s hair is like a blank canvas to me. And I cannot wait to create!” Autumn explains. When we asked Autumn why she choose Evergreen Beauty College she shares, “I choose Evergreen Beauty College because of the diversity of the clientele.”
The Evergreen Experience
Since starting the Cosmetology program with us Autumn Stapleton has expressed some of her highlights of what she has enjoyed, what has helped her so far, and what sets her apart from other Cosmetologist. “Ah! How do I choose?! I would say I love color and hair cutting the most. Being able to create custom colors and haircuts based on my clients lifestyle, face shape and skin tone is such an exciting process! I love the ability to have freedom to create while also being able to give my clients something they will love and will fit well into their life and accentuate their already beautiful features!” States Autumn. “Taking clients, gaining hands-on experience has by far been the most helpful. The ability to learn in a salon-like atmosphere has really accelerated my learning and ability to connect with my clients. It’s exciting everyday seeing what client will walk through the door and what journey we will be taking on for the day!” Explains Autumn.
The beautiful part of the beauty industry is the ability to grow and find your strengths. Autumn shares her strengths and also specialties within her training so far. “Blonding, balayage, fashion color, really anything to do with color. Also, hair cutting. I’m all about textured cuts, mullets, shags, wolfcuts, pixies, loving all the trends right now. I love pushing the envelope, trying new techniques and finding styles that clients would have never thought would have worked for them but always wanted!” States Autumn. When asked what sets Autumn apart from other stylists she shared, “Well, I don’t believe that the industry is made to be a competition. We are all here to support and build each other up as fellow stylists but, of course everyone has their own thing that sets them apart. I would say I’m passionate about my art, always wanting to learn and grow. It’s also really important to me that I create a safe space for my clients to really discover the hair of their dreams! And, we will laugh. A LOT.”
The Next Step
After graduating our Cosmetology program Autumn shares her plans and goals within the industry. “I would love to find a place that offers a lot of continued education. My plan is to start off in a privately owned salon and eventually move into owning my own.” States Autumn. As graduation approaches for Autumn she shares some great insight for incoming students. “Stay open minded, willing to learn and let your creativity run wild. Don’t expect yourself to know how to do something you’ve never done before. Fear is the result of not knowing, so figure out what you need to do to know it and the fear will lessen. Good luck! 🖤” Autumn expresses. Ms. Autumn Stapleton is set to graduate June 2022.
