Esthetics Student Success Story: Natalya Erdmann
About Natalya Erdmann
Growing up we have endless ideas of what we want to “be” when we get older. Some dream of being a singer, lawyer, doctor, firefighter etc. For Natalya, she believed she wanted to be a veterinarian with the idea of one day owning her own practice. It was for that reason that after she graduated high school, she enrolled in a Vet Tech program while also working on her associates in business. It didn’t take long before she realized this wasn’t the route she was meant to be on. Natalya decided to drop both classes and take a year off and worked in a coffee stand while she searched for her purpose. Looking for something she would love and be great at. Skincare is something Natalya has always taken seriously and was always complimented on. She was finding that friends and family would always come to her with questions about their skin and then “one day it just clicked! I just knew from that moment that skincare was my calling.” This led Natayla to take her next step.
“I chose to go into Esthetics because I have always loved everything to do with beauty and skincare. I loved doing face masks and makeup whenever I hung out with friends during my middle and high school years. I just thought it was so much fun. Taking care of my skin has always been a top priority of mine. So, I thought… why not become an Esthetician that way I can help others with their skin, knowing I’m doing something that I truly enjoy.”
Researching and choosing the right school for you is a crucial step in starting a new career path. “I chose to go to Evergreen Beauty College because I have heard many great things about the school, and I knew that they had a lot more to offer than other schools in the area. Not only do they offer the training needed to get my license but help me prepare for employment and business once I graduate. When I first reached out to the school, the admissions representatives were very sweet and helpful and were always in contact with me which made the process very easy and stress-free. I have not yet met a staff member who hasn’t been anything but sweet and willing to help if I have any questions.” Natayla states.
The Evergreen Experience
Since starting the Esthetics program with us Ms. Natalya has shared some of her highlights of what she has enjoyed and what has helped her so far.
“What I like the most about my program is facials and makeup. I love giving facials because I can help my clients gain control of their own skin, as well as educating them on what products are right for their skin type. And of course, there’s that post-facial GLOW that we all love. I also enjoy doing makeup because even just a little bit can make a woman feel ten times more confident and beautiful. There is no better feeling than having the power to help someone feel more confident in their own skin and seeing them smile!”
“I have found my specialty to be facials. My main reason for enrolling in school was to learn more about how the skin works and how I can be able help treat different types of skin. Skincare is my passion so naturally; facials would be my biggest strength. I have already had many satisfied clients who are now regulars of mine.”
Esthetics school isn’t just facials, waxing and makeup. “The assignments that I have found to be the most helpful are the projects that my instructor gives us to do in our free time and when we don’t have any clients. Some of these projects include researching different skincare products and writing about each of them, as well as more artistic projects where we had to draw and label diagrams about the hair and the body. These projects really helped me to focus and memorize the material better because they required a lot more thinking.”
With the spa industry growing, you need to have those unique qualities that separate you from the rest. “What sets me apart from other Estheticians is that I am very detail-oriented, and I don’t rush or give clients the bare minimum. I ask questions and fully listen to what each client tells me they want and what their goals are, and I put 100% effort into fulfilling their needs and expectations. I do my best to make sure they have an enjoyable and satisfying experience.” This keeps Ms. Natalya’s clients coming back.
The Next Step
Having just a few short months left; Ms. Natayla is ambitious with her goals and is already planning her future. “Once I graduate, I plan to go and work at a spa where I can further train under more experienced Estheticians and gain more and more practice so I can become better at my job every day. I will continue to take extra classes so I can become certified in more services that I will be able to offer my clients. Once I feel that I have gained enough experience and clientele, I will then go out on my own and rent a space either here in Bellingham or my hometown Lynden. I also plan on continuing makeup in hopes to be a bridal makeup artist as well.”
For those who plan on joining our Evergreen family, Natayla shares some words of advice. “Beauty school is different from your typical community college or university, but it definitely is not easy. My advice that I have for incoming students would be to not just do the bare minimum but go above and beyond what is required. You will learn how to do different services, but it is up to you whether you want to be successful at it or not. Do the work, put in the time, plus more, put your name out there, and really just give it your all.”
Ms. Natalya is set to graduate in April 2022. If you would like to follow her through the rest of her journey, you can find her on Instagram: @bareestheticsbynatalya. Congratulations Natalya! Evergreen Beauty College looks forward to seeing you accomplish your dreams!
