7 Things You’ll Only Understand While You’re in Beauty College

Believe it or not, there are some things that you won’t fully understand until you attend beauty college. Granted, you may think you know what to expect. But, you’re probably in for a surprise. Continue reading to find out more about the following nine issues. Then decide if beauty school is for you.

1. Your Friends Think It’s Easy

After a hard day of work at beauty college, you might hear your friends say that you just play with hair all day, explains Buzzfeed.com. This, however, is not the case. It takes a lot of effort to pick up all of the techniques needed to work as a cosmetologist. This doesn’t mean that beauty college won’t be fun, just that it will be challenging.

2. You Still Have To Pay for a Haircut

Even if your college allows students to work on other students, it’s not likely you’ll be getting your haircut for free. Unless it’s something that you can do yourself, you’ll still have to pay for these services just like everyone else.

3. You Own a Closet Full of Black Clothes

Many beauty schools have a dress code you’ll have to follow while attending. It’s important to dress the part and look professional as a cosmetologist, so during school you’ll usually be in uniform.

4. You’ll Bribe Your Friends to Be Models

Your friends should be comfortable enough to tell it to you like it is. This means that they make the perfect models, assuming that they are willing.

5. You’ll Feel Ecstatic When People Ask for You

When a client is impressed with your work, it’s likely they’ll ask for you specifically when they come back. It’s very satisfying when someone has that level of confidence in your abilities.

6. You’ll Remind Friends About the Evils of boxed Hair Color

For many reasons, boxed hair color is not good for your hair. After a couple weeks at beauty college, you won’t feel right letting your friends use it without having a talk with them about it.

7. Your Licensing Exam Is Complex

While typical college exams could take a couple of hours to complete, during beauty school exams you could end up doing over a dozen pedicures.
