Choosing Bangs That Work For Your Face

Choosing Bangs That Work For Your FaceHair trends change as fast as the weather, but bangs always seem to be popular in one form or another. Many people feel that they can’t wear them or can’t find a style that looks good on them. The key, however, is in getting the right cut for your face shape. Bangs frame the face, and they can either enhance the shape or make your face seem out of proportion.

Every face shape has a cut that compliments it, but there is no one-size-fits-all answer. Find your face shape in the list below to determine which style of bangs will look best on you.

Oval

Many people consider oval the perfect shape for a face, and as such women with an oval face can wear almost any style of bang. This includes long or short and thick or wispy. Many women with oval faces opt for shorter, angled cuts while others go for heavy, long bangs. A razored bang is also popular on oval faces.

Long

Bangs can be a particularly good style choice for women with long faces. They cover the upper portion of the face, making it appear shorter. A long, heavy bang looks best, but they do not have to be cut bluntly. A soft fringe can also be trendy.

Heart-Shaped

Heart-shaped faces are wider at the top and narrow at the bottom. With some bang styles this is accentuated, making the forehead look even larger. Covering the forehead with a long, thick bang often works well.

Longer fringe bangs swept to the side also work well on heart-shaped faces.

Square

Square faced women can wear almost any length of bang as long as it is not cut bluntly. Trying out a long, side-swept bang is recommended for women with extremely square faces.

Round

Round faced women often have the most trouble finding a style of bangs that do not accentuate their shortened face shape. The key here is to use a thin layer that still allows the forehead to show through. Heavier bangs swept to one side or the other can help to lengthen the face. Some hairdressers will cut a blunt bang slightly shorter in the middle for girls with a round face. This makes the face look slightly longer as well.

No matter what your face shape, there is a way you can have bangs that you love. Ask your hairstylist for advice on cutting your hair in a way that best suits your face structure and features.
