Common Mistakes Makeup Students Will Learn to Spot

Make up students learn many things. This is an exciting time to enter the industry. You won’t learn the concepts overnight, of course. But, as time goes on it gets easier to spot  mistakes that many people make at one time or another. These are five of the most  common ones.

Using Too Much Powder

Powder can be used to conceal many of the blemishes that may appear on your skin. However, it’s important that you apply your powder properly. Using too much powder can make the skin appear chalky and bring a sense of harshness to your complexion. It’s easy to notice when you’ve applied too much powder, because it stands out so much from the rest of your skin.

Relying on a Dark-Colored Eyeliner

Although it’s very common to use a darker eyeliner, soft colors tend to be better to use. According to CosmetologySchools.com, the problem with dark eyeliner is that it can make someone appear older than they actually are. Softer, more subtle tones can still complement your look and make you look younger.

Utilizing the Wrong Foundation

When choosing a foundation, it’s important to find one that blends perfectly with the rest of your skin. Mismatched foundation is very easy to spot. This also means, however, that it can be easy to get an idea of whether you should go with a lighter or darker tone. Test a bit of foundation to start and see where you should go from there.

Picking out the Wrong Blush

Depending on your skin tone, some hues of blush may work better than others. For makeup related purposes, your blush should be as natural as possible in regards to your complexion. For example, fair skin seems to best be complemented by softer hues, such as peach.

Neglecting to Apply Primer

Primer is used on the skin in order to hold makeup in place, as well as making it easier to apply. Primer can also help to reduce wrinkles, so long as it’s applied properly. If it isn’t already, it is vital to make primer a part of your beauty routine.

With a trained eye, you’ll be surprised how simple it is to spot these problems. Evergreen Beauty College provides an excellent program that teaches all of the aspects of makeup artistry.
