3 Great Hair Styling Tips for Men

Many times, hair styling tips all seem to be written for women, but now it’s your turn, men! The following hair styling tips for men can be implemented daily. They will not lead to hair loss like heavy styling, but instead promote healthy hair growth. In addition, they don’t require you to buy expensive products or spend hours in front of the mirror. In fact, they will help to minimize the time you spend each day while styling your hair, but still leave you with a great looking style!

Get a Quality Cut

One of the most important factors in determining how easy it is to style your hair each day is how it is cut. Men and women alike tend to overlook this factor, but most women at least visit a professional to have their hair shaped regularly. Some men have their hair cut by mothers or wives who have no formal training, or they even cut it themselves.

While this is effective in keeping it out of your eyes, there is a reason hairdressers are trained full time for up to two years. It takes specific skills to cut short hair so that it lays correctly, especially when there are areas where the hair grows in different directions. These can only be perfected through extensive training and regular practice. Getting a quality cut is worth the price, because it will save you time each day. In addition, it may help your hair remain healthy.

Conditioning the Hair

Many men overlook the importance of conditioning their hair, but this is a mistake. Even if your hair is short, healthy, well-conditioned hair will be easier to style than damaged hair. A combined shampoo and conditioner is better than no conditioner at all, but it still doesn’t cut it.

Quality counts, as well. While many conditioners contain the same basic ingredients, many economy priced conditioners are watered down and require you to use more each time you condition. Spending a little more here can actually be more effective at keeping your hair healthy as well as saving you money in the long run. A leave in conditioner you spray on after you shower is also a good idea.

Hair Products

There is no reason you should be afraid of hair products, even those that seem “girly.” That said, it is always best to use as little hair product as possible. Hair gel or mousse can help keep your hair in place, but start with a dime-sized amount and add more only if you need it. This is because the chemicals hair products contain can damage your hair and lead to breakage. Heat can cause the same problems, so avoid the hair dryer when you can.
