Reasons a Barber Becomes a Cosmetologist

Watch Kristopher’s inspiring 5 minute video above sharing his story of leaving the hospitality industry to become a barber and realized getting a cosmetology licenses would open more opportunities.

One of the requirements to be nominated for the International Business Student of the Year is that the student be has been named one of the 12 Nuts & Bolts Student of the Month; Mr. Powers was awarded this the very first month he entered into the student salon!  He set a goal to represent Evergreen in the International Competition as a freshman and with only one month of eligibility, he had beat out not only other entry student stylist but also Senior Stylist.   Mr. Powers to win it the first month out, not only shows his understanding of the NaB Principles, but his complete belief and effective commitment behind it.   With a 47% Retail to Service and nearly 33% upservice, 25% color service, and nearly perfect attendance, he lives the NaB Principles each day here at our college.   This is only the beginning of his success.

When I asked his instructor, Ms. Camalita Glover on Kristopher’s progress, she shared, “He is phenomenal student and truly embodies the Nuts and Bolts Principles.   He personalizes his services with every guests, and his core value of sincerity is expressed through his words, skill and touch.   He has not only been an incredible contributor to the college, but will be an incredible contributor to the industry.”  This commitment to genuine service allows him to share the Nuts and Bolts message of how important relationships are with so many others.

You will see from his video submission for the IBSY competition that Kristopher is very talented and has risen through the ranks of the hospitality industry.  This coupled with his artistic skill set and unwavering passion makes us excited to see him grow and contribute to the industry.
