Eyelash Extensions – Myths And Facts

eyelash-extensions

Eyelash extensions more than make up for what Nature has not given. Lash extensions make bombshells out of ordinary mortals and do so much more to the eyes what the best mascaras will find difficult to duplicate.

Common Myths About Eyelash Extensions

Extensions work best on sparse, thin and short lashes and since they work so well, it isn’t surprising that myths have begun to form around this cosmetic technique. But what exactly is the myth and which is the fact? We take a closer look.

Lash Extensions Can Cause Thinning of Eyelashes Due to Fall Out

Eyelash extensions do not actually cause damage to eyelashes. However, someone who does not know how to apply the lashes or has little experience in doing so can often attach one artificial lash to several strands of natural eyelashes. The clump that forms puts a bit of pressure on the natural lashes and causes them to break and then fall out. If the extensions are attached one by one, there should be no problem.

Lash Extension Glue Can Cause Irritation

Some cheap glues may contain ingredients that can lead to irritation later but this is only if the product’s manufacturers are suspect. Most of the glue produced locally (that is, in the U.S.) are tested by ophthalmologists and thus not likely to cause any issues.

Other products may be safe the moment they leave the factory but the length of time they spend in transit could cause formaldehyde to build up. By the time they reach your salon, they may no longer be as safe to use.

The Glue That Holds Artificial Lashes To Your Skin Will Melt in the Heat

If you think lash extensions and summer do not mix, think again. The moisture in the air (also known as humidity), along with the oils and water on your face due to natural body secretions and cosmetics will actually help keep the lashes attached, so there is better holding power.

Eyelash Extensions Is An Easy DIY Procedure

No, they aren’t. Due to the nature of the eye and associated sensitivity issues, extensions should only be applied by trained professionals. No client should ever be encouraged to apply these synthetic lashes by himself or herself. It is an intricate process, one that requires the use of tweezers to part and attach lashes with. Without a second party to do it, a DIY lash extension procedure can be extremely difficult to do. Plus, there is no assurance that the results will be satisfactory.
