Where You Will Find Your First Esthetics Job

esthetics school

So you’ve finished all of your training in Beauty College, you passed your licensing exam, and now you are ready to share your esthetic talent with the world, but where to start? With a little patience and a diligent work ethic, you’ll be able to find your first job in esthetics in no time. Here’s where to start looking!

School Job Counselors and Job Placement Services

Start from the beginning. While you may have been giving phony facials as a young one it’s likely that your first official foray into the world of esthetics was in beauty school, so start there.

The Beauty Schools Directory distributed a survey to over 70 beauty schools, and they found that, “92.6% of them offer some type of career placement services,” and that, “Some schools even have a job placement coach at their school to help counsel you on careers, interviewing, networking, job fairs and more.”

Since most schools offer a type of job placement service or career advising, you should take advantage of these options, and talk to your career counselor right away.

Reach Out To Your Network of Peers and Mentors

You can also find jobs in esthetics in the most unlikely of places. Maybe your mom’s, co-worker’s, daughter has a friend who just opened up a salon. If you do a little bit of digging, you will be able to explore your vast networks and find a job in esthetics.

Asking other students and teachers may also help you find a job in this field because they are either already working at a salon, where they might help you get your first job as an esthetician, or they are looking for a similar job as well, and you will be able to pool your resources to save time.

Job Placement Agencies & Online Job Boards

Even if you’re using your school’s career services, it is also a good idea to look at online postings for esthetician jobs. Places like indeed.com, monster.com, and even linkedin.com can help you widen your job search and connect you with places that you previously weren’t aware of.

It is also good to get in touch with job placement agencies, where you’ll be matched with a professional who will assess your personality and skills and will look for jobs that fit you perfectly.

Another great thing about seeking a job placement agent is that they will also be able to give you advice to improve your resume and develop sharp interview skills.
